Has the speed to beat his man off the line, and make something happen after the catch
Nice ball skills and body control, does a good job shielding defenders with his body, and adjusting to poorly thrown balls
Has size and leaping ability to regularly win jump balls
Strong hands allow him to rip the ball away from defenders, and maintain catch through contact
Terrific Y.A.C guy, physical runner, breaks tackles. Has been productive as a return man as well
Cons
Production in college was not up to expectations
Loses focus and doesn't always give 100%
Tends to run lazy routes
Drops too many easy catches
Has had lingering ankle issues
Overall
Arrelious Benn is a prototypical possession receiver in the NFL and reminds us a lot of Anquan Boldin. Good size and strength allows him to catch the ball in traffic and move the chains. He also is faster than his timed speed would indicate (4.53), he does have the speed to stretch the field vertically, and is very good with the ball in his hands. Benn is also a risky pick, he never fully lived up to his billing as a top flight recruit, he seemed to lose focus too easily, and at times seemed disinterested, dropping easy passes, and running soft routes. Much of that may be due to poor QB play and lingering ankle issues, but nonetheless he did not step up when called upon. Benn has a tremendous upside and could very well become a pro-bowl number 1 receiver, but if he doesn't get his mind right, he could be a disappointment at the next level. Benn will get picked in the late first to early second round.
