Overall
Bruce Carter is definitely a Boom-or-Bust pick, as the talent, skill, and potential is all there, but his game is not polished and he will take some developing to reach his potential. Also there is the issue of his Torn ACL this past season, all my analysis is assuming that he gets back to full strength, which is likely seeing how most players seem to fully recover nowadays. If he does not fully recover, all my analysis is out the window and he obviously will be nowhere near the player he is capable of. Anyway, Carter has the prototypical blend of size, speed, and athleticism. At 6-3 240, he is the perfect size to play outside in a 4-3 defense, and his elite quickness and athleticism allow him to be all over the field making plays. Carter is such a smooth, well polished athlete that makes everything look so easy, and is a joy to watch when he is going good. On the flip side, he definitely lacks the nastiness, physicality, and killer instinct you love to see out of linebackers, as he will sometime let up on plays and shy away from taking on big blockers. If he can step up in that regard, develop more in technique, and recover from his knee injury, he will be a top notch linebacker in the league. Those are 3 big "Ifs", but Carter has proved to be a hard worker, and I think he will be able to get it done.
