Pros

Cons

Overall

Christian Ponder is vastly overrated, and I really know why he is viewed as a late first, to early second round prospect. If you are looking for a solid backup, and someone who can play a couple games a year and not be a total train wreck, then Ponder would be a fit. But if you are looking for a QB to be the starter, let alone "The Man" do not take this guy. His arm strength is bad, and he just does not have the ability to zip a ball in down the field with any type of coverage on a receiver. He throws a bad deep ball, and cannot fit the ball into tight spaces. Also, if his #1 receiver is not open right away, he immediately looks to dump it down, or take off running, and does not handle pocket pressure well. He does do a good job with his short routes, and has good timing underneath, but he is not a guy with the ability to go out and make a big time throw and win big games. I wouldn't take him any earlier than the 5th or 6th round, but many people seem to think he has the "Intangibles" and some team will take him as their starter, and they will be disappointed.
