Does a good job in jump ball situations, catches the ball at its apex, and has nice body control
Does a good job identifying coverages, and finding soft spots in zones
Very deceptive on cuts, good head fakes, changes speeds, and often makes defenders look foolish
Very elusive in the open field, good Y.A.C, and adds value as a return man
Smart player, hard worker, good character
Experience in a pro-style offense at U.S.C
Cons
Does not have elite straight line speed (4.53), more quick than he is fast
Not very physical (may hurt him in bump and run coverage) Will struggle at first against bigger physical corners
Thin frame, would like to see him add some weight
Needs to become a better blocker in the run game
Overall
Damian Williams is a very polished receiver who should have no problems being productive at the next level. Things that can't be touched are his extraordinary route running abilities, his high football IQ and instincts for the game, and effort on and off the field. Would be a coaches dream, but it is doubtful he will be the dominant, go-to receiver that you want out of a first round Wide Receiver selection. He is very comparable Packers receiver Donald Driver, should have a very long career as a reliable, productive receiver, who just knows how to get open. Damian Williams can and probably will make an impact as a rookie in the N.F.L, and he should be selected somewhere in the early to mid second round.
