Pros

Cons

Overall

In a rather weak Tight End class, Dwayne Allen, to me, is definitely the #1 guy, and how people can argue otherwise, I don't understand. No other Tight End in this years class has the blend of receiving ability, along with the size and strength to be a blocker, that Allen has. It seems to be now, that most Tight Ends are either pure receivers, or just mainly blockers, but Allen can do it both. He is a superb athlete, profiling as a dynamic receiver, he is a surprisingly sharp route runner for a guy his size, quickly gets off the line, possessing the speed and quickness to burn Linebackers. With Allen's size at 6-4 255, he also presents himself as a very tough matchup in the redzone, having the ability to go up and get the ball over smaller DB's, or be physical and get himself in position to make the catch. Allen isn't a dominant run blocker by any means, but it is not a weakness of his. When asked to block in college, he did a solid job, but with some development, and if he can add some more muscle, he could prove to be pretty good as a blocker. He doesn't seem to have the elite level athleticism of a Jimmy Graham, or Rob Gronkowski, but Allen is a complete tight end who can do it all, which is becoming more and more rare in today's NFL.
