Pros

Cons

Overall

When it comes to pure speed, and agility, Edmund Gates could very well be best in this years draft. An incredible athlete, Gates is drawing the comparison to Steelers wideout Mike Wallace for his ability to immediately turn on the jets off the snap, create separation, and stretch the field. He is extremely effective on quick passes, bubble screens, drags, and slants, where he can quickly get the ball into his hands, and make things happen in the open field, where he is always a threat to score. However, Gates upside is limited because of his deficiencies as a route runner, and inconsistent hands. He will never be a #1 wide out, and will probably never have more than 70+ catches in a season, but he is flat-out playmaker, that will force defenses to pay attention to him.
