Anthony Gaitor Interview

Former Florida International is not a household name at the moment, but is one of the real sleepers in this years draft class. With 11 career INT's Gaitor is no scrub. He took the time to answer a few questions for us. Check it out!

Draft Geek: First off, congratulations on being part of FIU's first ever Bowl Game and Win. What can you attribute to such a dramatic turnaround, and do you think the program will be able to build off it moving forward?

Anthony Gaitor: Thank you. Yes I think FIU can build off the bowl win. That was just the first step of the turn around process for the program. I think Mario Cristobol is doing a great job with turning the program around. I believe FIU will have more seasons as great as the last one to come.

Draft Geek: Your statistical resume stacks right up there with some of the Best CB prospects in this years draft. (11 career INT's, 3 TD's) but you really don't get mentioned by people nationally as a top prospect? Why do you Think that is?

Anthony Gaitor: Being that I play for a school in the Sunbelt Conference I get over looked by other big time schools like the SCC, ACC and Big Ten schools. However, the fact still remains that I’ve played against big time schools with big time receivers and I’ve held my ground in them all. I don’t let things like that distract me because as you watch my film you can clearly see that I am capable of putting myself up against the top corner backs.

Draft Geek: What went into your decision to go to FIU instead of a bigger school?

Anthony Gaitor: I received offers from Georgia and other bigger Universities but I made the decision to stay in Miami to be closer to my family. I made this decision so that my family would have the opportunity to watch me play at all of my home games. My talent wasn’t the reason I chose to attend FIU.

Draft Geek: What goals have you set out to achieve in the NFL?

Anthony Gaitor: 1) Make the 53 man roster. 2) Be a big factor on the team. 3) Bring home the big trophy at the end of the day.

Draft Geek: What do you consider to be your greatest strength on the field, and what would you most like to improve on?

Anthony Gaitor: My greatest strength is being able to make a play anywhere on the field whether its safety, corner, or nickel-back. I would like to improve on every aspect of my game. There's always room for improvement.

Draft Geek: Which current or former NFL Cornerback do you most compare yourself to?

Anthony Gaitor: I compare myself to Asante Samuel and a little bit of Deion Sanders.

Draft Geek: Are you looking forward to this whole pre-draft process and being under such close scrutiny? Or would you just like to skip right to the Draft?

Anthony Gaitor: It really doesn’t bother me. I’m enjoying every part of the process because not everyone has this opportunity of playing at the next level.

Draft Geek: What NFL Quarterback would you most like to intercept?

Anthony Gaitor: Every teams opposing quarterback!

Draft Geek: What is an NFL Franchise going to be getting with Anthony Gaitor in terms of off the field, and personality?

Anthony Gaitor: Any NFL team that drafts me is gonna get a hard worker, who is gonna be a positive asset to the franchise. I will participate in community service stuff to help the team, and I won't embarrass the team.

Draft Geek: OK, final one, and I'll let you out with a soft one. What are you doing on gameday to get yourself fired up?

Anthony Gaitor: I listen to Plies: Go Live, and make sure I text my family and tell them I love them.

Draft Geek: Thank you so much for your time Anthony. We appreciate the time, and best wishes to you in your pro-day, pre-draft prep stuff, and your career moving forward!
