Overall
Johnny Patrick is definitely a boom or bust pick. When you look at him from a physical standpoint, there is a ton to like about him. He is simply put, just a great athlete. He is fast, quick, explosive, every superlative to describe a great athlete, he's got it. Patrick has the talent and ability to develop into an elite NFL cornerback, but he has a long ways to go to get there. His footwork and technique is very poor. He often turns the wrong way out of his back pedal, will take false steps, and often times gets turned around on sharp cuts by receivers. He also, plays too high, and overall, he has a year or two of development to really be trusted. Also there is the character concerns hanging over his head, because of a troubling arrest last season. The details are not fully known, but he definitely has displayed some poor decision making off the field. With the amount of good corners in this years draft, I wouldn't take him over most, but he has a ton of upside, and could develop into a really good player.
