Overall
Jerrell Powe profiles as your typical 3-4 Nose Tackle who can control 2 gaps, and free up space for the linebackers to make plays. Powe has excellent size, and elite strength which allows him to get a great push at the line. He also moves surprisingly well for a guy his size, and has pretty solid quickness. However, there are a few concerns with Powe. He has had serious weight management issues in the past, weighing around 400 pounds, but to his credit he worked extremely hard to drop a lot of weight and has made it all the way down to 325. He also struggled mightily to be academically eligible in college, so teams may be concerned that he won't be able to pick up the intricacies of a defensive scheme. But to his credit once again, he worked extremely hard to get himself eligible, showing great perseverance, so it really could be considered a positive or a negative, depending on how you look at it. Powe reminds me a lot of former NFL Nose Tackle Grady Jackson, and should have a long career as a 3-4, run stuffing nose tackle.
