Kendric Burney Interview

Former North Carolina Cornerback Kendric Burney stopped by to talk to us about his dominant performance at the Senior Bowl, and his NFL Prospects. Check it out!

Draft Geek: I can't imagine how frustrating your Senior season must have been for you. You guys all return to school, and then the NCAA happened. How disappointed were you with how it turned out? Were you able to gain anything from it?

Kendric Burney: I feel like as a Senior group our goal was to come back and win the ACC Championship, and that was the biggest disappointment to our senior year is that we let down the program of the opportunity to become a respected football program again.

Draft Geek: I'm sure you've been in contact with Robert Quinn, Greg Little, Charles Brown, and Marvin. Can you let us know what they've been up to and how they are handling their pre-draft preparation?

Kendric Burney: Everyone is doing great! Having the opportunity to just to play football again at the next level or college, we are blessed that we have that opportunity.

Draft Geek: You were one of the most impressive players at the Senior Bowl, looking like an interception machine. How was your experience there, and what did the coaches tell you about your performance?

Kendric Burney: I enjoyed every part of the Senior Bowl. I must say that the coaches taught us things, but at the same time in college we had one of the best coaching staffs that a player could ask for. The coaches just told me to keep working, and things will be fine for me because I compete and that's going to take me a long way.

Draft Geek: Which current of former NFL Cornerback would you most compare yourself to?

Kendric Burney: I really don't compare myself to any corner because every corner has a different style of playing. I watch film on every corner in the NFL just because the fact that they are there, they gain my respect.

Draft Geek: What goals have you set out to achieve in the NFL?

Kendric Burney: Only goal I've got set right now is to make the roster.

Draft Geek: What do you consider to be your greatest strength on the field, and what would you most like to improve on?

Kendric Burney: I believe I can play the ball well, which I must give playing baseball all my life a great deal of credit. Something I feel I have to work on is my overall game, every aspect needs to get better to be great.

Draft Geek: Are you looking forward to this whole pre-draft process and being under such close scrutiny? Or would you just like to skip right to the Draft?

Kendric Burney: I'm loving the process right now. It's something that you only get to experience once, and its an experience you dreamed about as a little kid so you have to enjoy it.

Draft Geek: What is an NFL Franchise going to be getting with Kendric Burney in terms of off the field, and personality?

Kendric Burney: I believe I will bring energy and trust to anyone's football team. A team player that at the end of the game gave it is all each and everyday.

Draft Geek: Alright, I'll let you off with a couple fun ones. What are you doing on gameday to get yourself fired up?

Kendric Burney: Most of the time before the game if its music you will hear J Cole coming from my headphones. And i make sure i have a talk with my parents before every game.

Draft Geek: OK, final one. Which are you most looking forward to about being an NFL Player?

Kendric Burney: I'm looking forward to competing and doing the best for my team.

Draft Geek: Thank you so much for your time Kendric. We look forward to seeing you play at the next level, and best wishes for you at the combine and in all your pre-draft prep!
