It's been an unorthodox road to the NFL for Lane Johnson, and many people didn't know much about him until the Senior Bowl. Lane Johnson is a former high school quarterback and played tight end at his Junior College, then started at defensive end at Oklahoma before being moved to tackle where he really settled in. Johnson's background as a skill position player really shows at offensive tackle where he shows outstanding feet and overall quickness. Lane Johnson is at his best in pass protection where he can use his athletic ability to mirror defenders and keep them out of the backfield. He can struggle in run blocking because he isn't overly strong as of yet, but does a good job with his technique and shielding off defenders. It was the Senior Bowl where Johnson really made people notice, as he consistently locked down the top rushers, and was only out-shined by fellow tackle Eric Fisher. Johnson seems very likely to go 6th or 7th in the draft. San Diego and Miami are both strong candidates to trade up with the Browns, and it's hard to see the Cardinals passing on him.
