Pros

• Very athletic with good quickness
• Has the size to be a fit in a 4-3, or 3-4
• Does a good job stacking, and shedding blocks to tackle the ball carrier
• Good pass rusher, has good repertoire of power and finesse moves
• Explosive and can shoot the gap
• Very hard worker, and has shown tremendous perseverance

Cons

• Overall strength is average
• Not all that strong at the point of attack
• Needs to do a better job with his hands to fight off double teams
• Suffers from A.D.D, and dyslexia which has caused problems with learning playbook in past

Overall

Lawrence Guy has a lot of tools to work with, and I think with some development, he could turn into a very productive player. His 6-4 300 pound frame allows for schematic versatility, where he could be a penetrating 1 gap Defensive Tackle in a 4-3, or a 5 technique in a 3-4. However, to be an effective 5 Technique Defensive End, he will have to get stronger to be an effective run stuffer. He currently just is not strong enough at the point of attack, and struggles to fight off double teams. In either system I think it will take a couple years for Guy to really be a factor, as he is too raw from a technique standpoint, and needs to hit the weight room. I think most teams view him as a 3-4 guy, which means he will likely get picked a little bit earlier than he should, which will probably be sometime in round 3.
