Overall
One of the most versatile defensive players in this years draft, Ronnell Lewis will appeal to every team in the draft looking for defensive help. He realistically could play, Inside Linebacker in a 3-4, or 4-3, Strongside in a 4-3, has experience in a 4 man front as a pass rusher, but I think would be best used as a 3-4 Rush Linebacker. The first thing that stands out to you about Lewis is the violent nature, and explosiveness with which he plays the game. He goes 100 MPH, on every play, plays with great intensity, plays until the whistle, and is always looking to hammer whoever has the football. He works great in the trenches, because he has good size and strength, is strong and the point of attack, and uses his hands very well to disengage and get off blockers. Lewis also is a very good penetrator, who will make a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage, because of that explosiveness, and ability to knife through gaps effectively. Lewis does have a few weaknesses, he really is not very good in coverage, as he does not have fluid hips, and doesn't seem very comfortable in open space. He also needs to work on his tackling form, but that is something that can be coached. I like Lewis a lot, and if he goes to a 3-4 team, I think he can play produce right away as a guy who can just be let loose, and immediately bring pressure. Lewis will come off the board sometime in the 2nd round.
