Overall
Marvin Austin would scare me off if I were running a team. He has all the talent in the world, but just screams "contract player." You know, the guy on your team that is incredibly inconsistent, and then when they are in the final year of their contract they put up ungodly numbers, and some team overlooks his previous years, and pays them on that one good year. Then that player goes back to his old ways now that he has that money. I could see Austin being that. He is the prototypical boom or bust prospect. He has all the physical tools to be a dominant defensive tackle, good size, elite speed and quickness, and the strength to take on blockers but still make plays. However Austin relies too much on his physical skills and when something doesn't work he usually quits on the play. Austin should be more dominant, but his lack of pass rushing moves and effort against double teams leaves you wondering how he will do in the NFL. Austin has top 15 talent, but his character red flags and inconsistent effort will cause him to go somewhere in the first half of the 2nd round.
