Overall
Colin McCarthy is one of those guys who works his butt off, and gets every ounce of production from what talent he has. From a technical and mental standpoint, he does everything right, he knows the game, is always in the right spot, and leaves it all out on the field. Unfortunately he is limited, and probably maxed out in his physical ability. His athleticism is average, he does not have quick movements, is not explosive, and does not do well when asked to drop back, or turn and run in coverage. Also there is the serious shoulder injuries looming, which also is a big red flag. If McCarthy can stay healthy, at the very least he will be a productive special teams player, and has the ability to be a solid starter.
