Pros

Cons

Overall

Melvin Ingram is one of those guys who does not fit the "Prototype" and doesn't really remind you of anybody, but he just finds a way to get the job done, and produce at a high level. To me, Ingram is more of a defensive "Weapon", rather than somebody who you just plug in at one spot for a whole game. He is extremely versatile, and can get to the Quarterback in a number of different ways. At South Carolina he lined up outside on a 4 man front with his hand on the ground, played outside backer in a number of different sets, and they even kicked him inside on pass rushing downs. Ingram's best assets are his quickness, and relentlessness. He uses his hands as well as any pass rusher in the draft, constantly attacking the O-Lineman, and effectively setting up his vast repertoire of moves, whether finesse or power. The team that drafts Ingram though is going to have to deal with his weaknesses against the run. Because of his size, he can be walled off, and driven out of the play by bigger lineman. He isn't a total liability though, as he does a very good job shedding blockers in time to make a play on the ball carrier. I think Ingram would be most productive if used like he was at South Carolina, being moved around to different spots on the field, and keeping defenses guessing. If used that way, he would be a guy that could get you 10-12 sacks a season consistently. He shouldn't last past the Jets at pick #16.
