Overall
There were a lot of expectations of Phil Taylor coming into college, and it looked like he wasn't going to live up to those expectations. He was kicked out of Penn State for academic issues and an assault charge for getting into a fight at a Fraternity Party. Taylor transferred to Baylor and had a disappointing 2009 season where his weight ballooned up to 360 lbs. However, a light must have gone off inside his head before the 2010 season and Taylor lost weight, rededicated himself and turned his career and life around. Taylor had a very good season helping the Baylor Bears get to their first bowl game in almost 20 years. He got an invite to the Senior Bowl where he was unblockable and dominated the entire week. Taylor continued this momentum into the Combine where he was even more impressive showing good mobility and quickness. I personally wouldn't take Taylor high as he is a boom or bust pick, with a lot of issues. There is no question the talent is there for Taylor, but he needs to control himself in regards to his weight, and off the field. If he is able to do so, he will be a very good nose tackle in the NFL. Look for Taylor to go somewhere in the late 1st early 2nd round to a 3-4 team that needs a clogger in the middle.
