Great height at 6 foot 6, can easily see over the defense
Very accurate passer, puts good touch on his passes, and hits receivers in stride
Arm strength is above average, can make every throw on the field
Good decision maker and safe with the football, poised and calm under pressure
Good footwork, steps into his throws, and can move around the pocket pretty well
Good athlete, can escape pressure in the pocket, and can throw on the run
Great timing on throws, reads defenses well, and hits receivers right out of breaks
Cons
Very thin, needs to hit the weight room, makes durability a concern
Arm strength is good but not great, doesn't throw a strong deep ball
Played in a spread offense at Cincinnati, will need adjust to taking the ball out from center
Mechanics and throwing motion are inconsistent
Overall
I see Tony Pike as the third best Quarterback in this years draft, headlining a weak third tier of passers, behind Bradford and Clausen. While at Cincinnati, Pike proved to be a very productive, winning quarterback, as the team was 23-4 in his 2 years as a starter at Cincinnati, with very impressive stats to go along with those wins. He is a Prime Time player who is calm under pressure and steps his game up in crucial situations, making big throw after big throw. He has ideal height at 6-6, but definitely will have to add some weight to withstand to physicality of the N.F.L, if he doesn't, durability and injuries become major concerns. Has good but not great arm strength, can make every throw necessary, but doesn't have a cannon for an arm like many QB's his size. Pike is a very accurate passer, makes good decisions with the ball in his hand, always hits the open receiver, and has great timing on his throws. He will have to adjust to an N.F.L style offense after playing his career in a spread offense at Cincinnati. The big thing for Pike will be putting on the necessary added weight, and being able to stay healthy, if he is able to do so, there is little preventing him from being a very productive starting quarterback at the next level. He should get picked in the third, to fourth round range.
