Pros

Cons

Overall

I love the upside with Ras-I Dowling, and when he is rolling, he is as good as it gets, only problem is his injuries have limited him in the past, and him pulling a Hammy running at the combine only furthers the notion that he may be injury prone. Also he needs some good coaching, as his technique and footwork often leave him out to dry. He takes too many false steps, and for some reason get often turns his hips in the wrong direction coming out of his breaks, and can get burned, and have trouble locating the ball. His combination of size and speed are tremendous, as he he can be very effective in bump and run coverage, getting a good jam on the line, and can run step-for-step with NFL level speed. He is also very smart, and has great awareness on the field, he can quickly identify what is going on, and get to where he needs to be and make a play. He is also a very hard worker, so I think he will be able to iron out his technique issues. So basically it's up to whether Ras-I can stay healthy, if he does, he will be an excellent corner in a couple years, but there is the chance that he doesn't stay healthy and isn't able to fulfill his potential. He should be an early 2nd round selection.
