LSU's Power Running stopped by to talk to us about his breakout season last year, and his NFL Prospects.

Draft Geek: You really burst onto the scene this year. You didn't play a whole lot in your first 2 years, but were great as a Junior. What helped you to go from a reserve, to one of most productive backs in the country?
Stevan Ridley: The biggest thing was being patient once I got my shot. Once I had the opportunity, I had to go out there and make something happen. I waited my turn and couldn’t let the moment pass once I got it. I was very anxious, and ready to play after learning the system so I had to do my best.
Draft Geek: What went into your decision to leave LSU as a Junior and not return for your Senior season?
Stevan Ridley: My family helped me make the decision. After the season I had, with over 1,000 yards rushing, I wasn’t sure if that would happen again. I could have done better this year, or I could have done worse, and that wasn’t a gamble I was ready to take. I have always dreamed of playing in the NFL, so after weighing the pros and cons, it was the right decision to make.
Draft Geek: You have never been known as a burner, and many dog you about your 40 Times. How do you respond to people who say you are not fast enough to succeed at the next level?
Stevan Ridley: I know I am not a burner. It is about acceleration, and how quick you can get up to a speed. I get it done between tackles, and like most running backs go for 4-5 yards per carry. If I could go out and run for 4 or 5 yards a carry, I can be productive on any team in the NFL.
Draft Geek: You've played some fullback in your day, have teams talked you about maybe playing there in the NFL? Or are you solely focused on Tailback?
Stevan Ridley: I am solely focused on being a Tailback. I am going in as a running back and I will prove all of the doubters wrong.
Draft Geek: Which current of former NFL Running Back would you most compare yourself to?
Stevan Ridley: Shonn Greene from the New York Jets
Draft Geek: What do you consider to be your greatest strength on the field, and what would you most like to improve on?
Stevan Ridley: I get stronger as the game goes on, so my ability to close out games, pounding the football. I would like to improve on my speed.
Draft Geek: We always hear about the crazy questions these scouts and GM's ask you during interviews. What was the craziest question you were asked? And (If you can) How did you respond?
Stevan Ridley: "Why does food have to be cooked?"
Draft Geek: Have you enjoyed this whole Pre-Draft process, and being under such a close microscope?
Stevan Ridley: I have! It has been an experience and something that I have dreamed about ever since I was a child. I want to enjoy it, but not get too caught up in all of it.
Draft Geek: What is an NFL Franchise going to be getting with Stevan Ridley in terms of off the field, and personality?
Stevan Ridley: I am a team player, and while I have an outgoing personality, I am also a great leader. I am just a laid back, down-to-earth guy!
Draft Geek: Alright, I'll let you off with a couple fun ones. What are you doing on gameday to get yourself fired up?
Stevan Ridley: I listen to Young Jeezy on my iPod
Draft Geek: OK, final one. Which are you most looking forward to about being an NFL Player?
Stevan Ridley: Mostly, I am looking forward to competing against players that I have grown up watching play and playing against players I have always looked up to. And most importantly, helping my team win a Super Bowl!
Draft Geek: Thank you so much for your time Stevan. We really appreciate the time. We wish you the best at the draft, and your future in the league!
