Kirk Ferentz and Iowa have become a factory for NFL Offensive Lineman, and Reiff has chance to be one of the bests ones yet. Riley Reiff has a lot of the tools to be successful playing the left tackle position in the NFL. He has good size (6'6), long arms, and good footwork. Possibly Reiff's best aspect is his positioning, and footwork. He does a tremendous job setting up right off the snap, and directing his defender where he wants him to go. Thus he rarely gets beat off the snap. Reiff also uses his quick feet to move from side to side to seal of the pass rusher. His athleticism is good but not great, and he will can be beaten by quicker Pass Rushers from time to time. Reiff will also struggle from time to time with a strong bull rush, but that is caused by an issue of playing too high, which is something he does too often, but also something that can be taught. Also, for a guy his size, and unlike most guys from Iowa, Reiff doesn't play with a nasty, mean streak, sometimes not finishing his block, letting the defender off. Because Reiff is more of a finesse blocker than a power blocker, he may be a better fit in a Zone Blocking Scheme. Most of Reiff's issues are all things that can be coached, so I expect him to continue to grow and improve during his career. Reiff should go relatively early. He could go as high as #6 to Washington, but I find it hard for him to fall past Kansas City at #11. Both are ZBS teams.
