Overall
Jabaal Sheard was a very hard-working and productive, pass rusher in college, but he will have to work even harder to make it at the next level, and will have to develop other aspects of his game to be a real contributer. Sheard's best assets are his smarts, and technique as a pass rusher, along with his effort, and high-level motor on every play. Unfortunately because of his lack of size and strength, he won't be able to get to the Quaterback as easily as he did in college, as the lineman are obviously much bigger and stronger. He does however, have the measureables to be a 3-4 rush linebacker, which would limit his weaknesses as a run stopper, but we really have never seen him in coverage. He played exclusively in a 3-Point stance at Pitt, and his ability to be effective in any type of coverage is a total question mark. So really, as I mentioned before, Sheard is either going to have to get a lot stronger, so as not be be a liability against the run, or learn how to drop into coverage. If he is able to do 1 of the 2 things, he should be able to make it, but neither of those things is all that easy, and there is a sizeable chance that he never really turns into anything.
