Pros

Cons

Overall

After being highly recruited, and posting superb Freshman and Sophomore seasons, Stephon Gilmore was firmly on everybody's radar this past season, but as a Junior he regressed, and I think he would have been better off staying for his Senior season. Gilmore has the talent to be successful, but because of poor footwork, technique, and overall awareness, he gets himself in trouble. He does not do very well in man coverage, as he does not transition well out of his back pedal, and once receivers get a step on him, he does not have the speed to recover, playing with his back to the Quarterback, with an inability to turn around and locate the football. He does have very good instincts, and his aggressive style of play will make things happen, but on the flip side, he is sometimes overaggressive, and will get beat on pump fakes and double moves. He has the talent to play in the league, but even lf he does become a starting NFL Cornerback, I think he will take a couple years to develop, and will require some serious coaching to fix his technique flaws. In my opinion, Gilmore is one of the more overrated prospects in this years draft., but he seems to be highly thought of, and will likely go in the top 15.
