Great hands. Possibly strongest hands of any other receiver in the draft
Good speed when he gets going, can stretch the defense, or take a slant route to the house
Has ability to leap up over defenders and make acrobatic catch, high points the ball, nice body control
Adds value as an explosive punt or kick returner
Extremely hard to tackle, physical runner, and shifty moves
Playmaker who steps up down the stretch
Very productive in college, 25 TD's last 2 seasons
Cons
At only 5-11 is not tall enough to be a #1 receiver
Not a very good route runner, runs them fast, but not sharp
Needs to be able to beat jam at the line better
Sometimes loses focus and drops easy passes
Overall
Golden Tate does not have the ideal attributes of a receiver that will be taken early in the draft, he is short, and lacks top end speed. Other than that it is very hard to knock his game, he was ultra productive at Notre Dame, was the go-to receiver on that offense, and was a flat out playmaker who carried the offense on his back at times. He has great hands, is a very physical player, and despite his size, has the leaping ability to get a jump ball over the defense, great body control. Tate will not be a number 1 receiver in the N.F.L, but he will be very valuable to a team when used as a jack of all trades as Percy Harvin was this past year, return kicks and punts, line up in the slot, and get the ball in space. He is an explosive player who will be very valuable to the team he gets drafted by. Tate should be the second or third receiver off the board, in the late first to early second round range.
