Tyron Smith has the talent and ability to emerge as the #1 tackle from this years draft class, but I think it might take some time to develop into the player he can be. Smith has excellent athleticism, he moves side-to-side very well, does not get beat outside, ever, and has an excellent frame, and will only get better as he gets stronger. We really need to see Smith add some muscle, as he is undersized at the moment, and as of now he will be overmatched against NFL level strength and power. The other knock I have against Smith is his in-experience at left tackle. Smith played exclusively on the right side at USC, and a transition to the left side would take some time. He does have all the talent to be a dominant NFL tackle, and his experience in both a pro-style blocking scheme and a Zone Blocking scheme a nice asset. I think Tyron Smith will be a very good tackle in the NFL some day, but he is a bit of a project, and there is that chance that he doesn't put it all together. His potential and upside will have Smith coming off the board sometime late in round 1, or early in round 2.
