Overall
Much like most of the running backs in this years draft class, Shane Vereen is a solid back who will have a nice career in the NFL, but nothing special, and not an every down back. I love what I see from Shane Vereen, but he just lacks that elite athletic ability to bust off long runs and make defenses fear him. That stat of only 2 carriers over 20 yards last season is very worrisome. But really, there are not many other weaknesses in his game. He shows excellent vision and usually will pick up 3-4 yards on every carry, he has great overall strength to run through tackles, and is an excellent receiver out of the backfield. If he had that "Game breaking" speed, and explosiveness that we talked about earlier, he would vault towards the top of the RB rankings. But he just doesn't have that next gear, so he will be a nice player in the league, a good complementary back, but if you are looking for that 20+ carry a game guy, look elsewhere.
