Overall
J.J Watt will never be a dominant player in the league, but he will be a very valuable piece to a 3-4 defense. He is your prototypical 5 Technique Defensive End, with the size and the strength to control multiple gaps and eat up space, but also is able to get penetration due to his relentless motor and hand use. He doesn't have the athleticism of a Marcell Dareus or Cameron Heyward, but Watt gets everything he has out of what he's got, and will be a coaches dream. He uses his hands better than any defensive lineman in the draft, as his rip and swim moves are extremely difficult to defend against. He needs to do a better job setting the edge against the run, as he tends to get upfield too quickly on run plays, letting the run get outside, but that is something that can be easily solved. He is limited in potential, but will be a very effective player for a long time. He is a Mid-to-Late 1st round pick.
