Wednesdays Watchers

Every Wednesday after the college football week, we give you the biggest winners and losers from that past week, who helped their draft stock the most, and who hurt their stock the most.

Week 13

1

Quinton Coples- DE North Carolina

This is the 2nd time this year Quinton Coples has been featured on Wednesdays Watchers, the 1st time though, he was on the bad side. Halfway through the season, Coples looked nothing like the player we had seen in previous years. But since then, he seems to have flipped the switch, and is back to terrorizing Quarterbacks. He always had the talent, but now he is putting it all together. His technique has drastically improved, as he is using his hands extremely well, and playing with much better pad level. His motor seems to be running faster, and overall just seems to have that burst and explosion you look for. Coples is back to being a Top-10 prospect.

2

Michael Floyd- WR Notre Dame

Nobody was ever sleeping on Michael Floyd, but this year, Floyd has taken his game to a whole new level. He's doing it all. He's showing great hands, and ability to work underneath as a possession receiver. He's improved his route running so that he can get himself open regularly. Not to mention the size, and leaping ability that have always made him a dangerous deep threat. We've #8 in our latest mock draft, ahead of Alshon Jeffrey.

3

Emmanuel Acho- OLB Texas

Acho has been the last guy out of our Wednesdays Watchers for the last few weeks, but we just could not leave him off this week. Emmanuel Acho has been an absolute monster in his past 4 games. He's had 49 tackles, at least 11 in each game. And 7.5 Tackles For Loss. He always had the instincts and speed to quickly get to the football. Now not only is he doing that, but he looks to be playing much stronger, and going a much better job getting off, and taking on blockers. Acho is a complete, well rounded player, and now that he is turning into a true playmaker, his stock is skyrocketing.

4

Coby Fleener- TE Stanford

In a Stanford offense that doesn't have a lot of dynamic weapons, Coby Fleener has been the consistent safety blanket that the team has relied on. Fleener has come up with many crucial receptions over the season, and whenever things break down, Andrew Luck has been looking for him. He is very quick and shifty, with the ability to create separation, and just seems to know how to get open, and find soft spots in the defense. He isn't the greatest blocker, but with the way NFL teams have been using Tight Ends now, Fleener will be valued.

5

Matt Daniels- Safety Duke

This is likely the first time you have ever heard of Matt Daniels, but I doubt it will be the last. While going completely under the radar at Duke, Daniels is one of the biggest sleepers in the draft class. He is a tackling machine, with 126 tackles on the season, good enough for 10th in the nation. Now don't think that he is just a pure in-the-box safety, he is also a tremendous athlete who can cover. He runs a 4.45 40, and has very good ball skills. Look for Daniels to be a guy who rises up boards once people find out about him. But, remember, you heard about him here first! (Well, unless you checked the All-ACC team first)

1

Ryan Tannehill- QB Texas A&M

Like Coples, Ryan Tannehill makes his second appearance on our list, but unfortunately for Ryan, they've both been on the bad side. Coming into the season, Tannehill was viewed as a 2nd round prospect, after a Come-From-Nowhere Junior Season, but has been awful this year. People have continued to defend Tannehill this season, but I just don't get it at all. I think people jumped all over Tannehill because they liked his story, switching over from receiver to QB. But now that teams have some tape on him, he is looking lost. He has thrown 14 interceptions this season, and despite having some really good weapons on offense, he hasn't gotten the job done. Tannehill has thrown a lot of costly interceptions, like the 3 he threw last week in the loss to rival Texas. I don't view him as a starting Quarterback in the league at all.

2

Michael Egnew- TE Missouri

Michael Egnew came into this season as the consensus #1 Tight End prospect after a 90 catch Junior season, but has not lived up to that billing at all. Egnew only has 47 receptions thus far, and only 3 Touchdowns. He has been a complete non-factor in most games, in which you would not even know he was on the field. I know that Missouri has been using him a lot as blocker in which he does very well, but he is a former receiver who should be a pass catching option. Maybe its the offense that Missouri is running, but Egnew is a very talented player who should be producing more.

3

Tony Dye- Safety U.C.L.A

Overall it has just been a nightmare season for Tony Dye. Last year he was a force for the Bruins, making plays all over the field, finishing with 96 tackles. This year though, Dye has been battling injuries all year. He thought about getting a medical redshirt after week 3, but didn't end up doing it, which has been a very bad decision. Dye has missed most of the season, and in his last 2 games since his return, he has looked awful. Only 4 tackles in the 2 games, but he has been repeatedly burned deep. He was victimized multiple times last week against Matt Barkley, as U.C.L.A lost 50 to nothing. Dye will need to get healthy, and test really well in the off-season to boost his stock back up.
