Week 11 NFL Reverse Power Rankings

1. Cleveland Browns (0-10)

Not even a Thursday night game could help the Browns get their first win of the season which also continued their 13 game losing streak. At the start of the season the Browns were competitive but as of late their games haven’t been close. There might not be a winnable game remaining on their schedule.

2. San Francisco 49ers (1-8)

Being close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, but the 49ers did play much better nearly getting a win against the Cardinals and the play of Colin Kaepernick was a big part. With CK7 starting improving his play they could sneak out another win or two, but likely they won’t.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-7)

While it wasn’t the Junk Time Jaguars this week, they got behind immediately with Blake Bortles pick six. I’m not sure there was a team that higher expectations that has struggled as much as the Jaguars have this season.

4. Chicago Bears (2-7)

Chicago looked like a new team beating the Vikings with Jay Cutler back and many key players coming back from injury. However they dropped a complete egg against a vulnerable Buccaneers team. If they can’t get the win here, it’s going to be a struggle going forward.

5. New York Jets (3-7)

I’ve been calling for Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenburg to get some snaps for weeks now and with Ryan Fitzpatrick injured it was Petty who got the start. It wasn’t pretty for Petty who got a TD off a hook and latter play and ended up throwing a late interception to seal the loss.

6. Carolina Panthers (3-6)

The disappointment continues for the Panthers as they lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Chiefs. With losses by both New Orleans and the Falcons the Panthers game next week against the Saints is crucial.

7. Cincinnati Bengals (3-5-1)

There has been talk that Marvin Lewis could get fired if the Bengals don’t win in the playoffs and with the struggles this year for the Bengals you have to wonder if his seat will get very hot. I don’t think he gets fired, but crazier things have happened.

8. San Diego Chargers (4-6)

Driving for a potential game winning field goal it looked like the Chargers were going to keep their positive momentum going. However it was a Phillip Rivers pick six cost the Chargers the game.

9. Los Angeles Rams (4-5)

While the offense continues to struggle to score points it was their defense that picked up the slack and held the Bryce Petty lead Jets to only two field goals. So it was nice that the Rams had three field goals to get out with a win and get a step closer to another 8-8 season.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-5)

Not only did the Bucs get a win over the Bears to stay within striking distance of a potential wildcard birth. Playing Chicago is one thing but with Kansas City and Seattle coming up their playoff hopes will likely be crushed.

11. Buffalo Bills (4-5)

In the Bills first nine games it’s been all about streaks. A two game losing streak to start the year got their offensive coordinator fired, then a four game winning streak got them in the thick of the playoff hunt before a three game losing streak drops them back down. We’ll see if their losing streak continues or another winning streak will start up when they take on the Bengals.

12. Indianapolis Colts (4-5)

Without playing a game the Colts drop from second place in the South to third and two games behind the leading Texans. However the Colts will have a chance to regain some control as they play the Titans next week.

13. Green Bay Packers (4-5)

If you thought the Packers losing to the Colts was bad getting completely dominated and embarrassed against the Titans was much worse. With their next four games against projected playoff teams could either put the Packers firmly out of the playoffs.

14. New Orleans Saints (4-5)

What a brutal way to lose a game. Just imagine a Saints fan’s excitement that they’re going to kick an extra point to win get above .500 and have a foot in the door of the playoffs. Not only was the extra point blocked but returned to win the game.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-5)

In a season where there have been some duds of games the Steelers Cowboys game looked like a battle of elite teams. Pittsburgh did come up on the wrong end but their offense seems to be back on track and they should be able to make a run to end the season.

16. Arizona Cardinals (4-4-1)

What better way to get back on track than to play the horrible 49ers and get the win to raise your confidence? But the Cardinals struggles this kicked up again and almost cost them an easy win. Arizona gets the struggling Vikings next but their schedule continues to be tough moving forward.

17. Tennessee Titans (5-5)

How do you know your franchise is on the right track? Completely dominating the Packers is a good way to show it. Tennessee’s ability to run the ball against any team will give them a chance to win.

18. Minnesota Vikings (5-4)

Minnesota’s woes continued as they continue their four game losing streak dropping the Vikings out of the lead in the North. The Vikings need to get back on track fast if they want any chance of making the playoffs, but at this point it doesn’t look very promising.

19. Miami Dolphins (5-4)

Six weeks ago the Dolphins were 1-4 and were largely considered a legit candidate for a top three draft pick. But with four straight wins the Dolphins are still in the hunt for a playoff spot and with games against the 49ers and Rams coming the Dolphins could easily extend their winning streak to six games.

20. Philadelphia Eagles (5-4)

After dropping two straight divisional games the Eagles bounced back quite considerably knocking off a Falcons team most considered to be the one of the conference elites. We’ll see how they do against another conference elite as they take on Seattle next week.

21. Baltimore Ravens (5-4)

Sure it was the Browns they just beat but the Ravens will still take it as they get a second straight win to get over .500. Traveling to Dallas next week should really tells us what type of team the Ravens are.

22. Washington Redskins (5-3-1)

Death, taxes and Preston Smith terrorizing Sam Bradford. For whatever reason Smith has had his best games against Bradford and this weekends two sack and interception helped the Redskins pull off another win and keep their wildcard hopes alive.

23. New York Giants (6-3)

The Giants have finally been able to get Odell Beckham going and you can see what it has done for the offense. New York is in a great spot and with the Bears and Browns as their next two opponents they should strengthen their playoff chances.

24. Houston Texans (6-3)

Say what you want about the Texans and most notably quarterback Brock Osweiler they keep winning. However if the Texans are going to be more than just a first round playoff loss they need Osweiler to be able to facility the offense.

25. Detroit Lions (5-4)

With the Packers and Vikings both continuing to collapse the Lions move into a tie for first place of the North and have the tiebreaker. It’s a log jam at the top, but it’s the Lions that may be playing the best in the whole division.

26. Atlanta Falcons (6-4)

Winning on the road in the NFL is no gimmy, especially against an Eagles team that is contending for a playoff birth. However if the Falcons want to be a true contender and win in the playoffs, they’re going to be playing against better teams on the road in the playoffs.

27. Denver Broncos (7-3)

Sometimes good times just find different ways to win games and that is exactly what happened as the Broncos designed a put block that not only saved a loss but they made a play to win. While Denver has some issues at quarterback they’re still winning games and that’s all that matters.

28. Kansas City Chiefs (7-2)

Playmakers make plays when teams need them the most and that’s exactly what cornerback Marcus Peters did for the Chiefs taking the ball away from Kelvin Benjamin in the weaning minutes. That allowed the Chiefs to get the winning field goal and continued their blistering pace they’ve been on since last year.

29. Seattle Seahawks (6-2-1)

Getting a road win in New England is about as big of a win as you can get in this league. For a team that normally struggles at the beginning of the year before turning it on, they’re in a great spot to earn a first round bye and get home field advantage, which is huge with their stadium.

30. Oakland Raiders (7-2)

It’s been an impressive first half of the season for Raiders who have established themselves as one of the elite teams in the AFC. But they jump right back into next week with a showdown with the South leading Texans.

31. New England Patriots (7-2)

It’s not too often that you see Tom Brady make boneheaded mistakes or not look very crisp. Being put into a hole didn’t help but the Patriots had four chances to get the win at the goal line to tie the game, but just couldn’t get it done. They’ll be fine and still likely get home field advantage in the playoffs.

32. Dallas Cowboys (8-1)

At this point the Cowboys look like the best team in the NFL and it may not be close. With yet another win and another good performance by rookie quarterback Dak Prescott we also have some clarity in that owner Jerry Jones said they’ll ride the hot hand in Dak.
