As Free Agency has began to slow down it is the perfect time to take a look at the team needs for each team as we get closer to the 2019 NFL Draft. Listed below are the Dallas Cowboys Team Needs as they head into the 2019 NFL Draft listed in order of importance.
Dallas Cowboys Team Needs
Even with Jason Witten back in the fold, the Cowboys need to add a young and dynamic TE. Thankfully for them this is a great class to need TE. There are a host of dynamic prospects who could be an option for them. Irv Smith Jr. is one of my favorite prospects in the class and would likely be on the board when they pick in the 2nd round.
Interior Defensive Line
Another major need the Cowboys must address is along the interior of their defensive line. If there isn’t great value at TE when they pick in the second round, targeting a defensive tackle is a must. A prospect like Jerry Tillery would be ideal for them if he is on the board.
Adding players who can compete for snaps on the back end of the defense is vital for the Cowboys after missing out on Earl Thomas. There is good safety talent that should be available on day two in this class, but few true free safeties. Even if they fail to land one of the center fielder’s, they could still add a solid box safety like Amani Hooker who would be an upgrade over current options.
The Cowboys have a bunch of young cornerbacks on the roster who have had mixed results opposite Byron Jones. If the Cowboys believe they can find value in the third round and land number 2 corner, they should pull the trigger. Joejuan Williams is a prospect I would take a long look at if I was the Cowboys and he is on the board in the third round.
With the loss of Cole Beasley, the Cowboys could be looking to land a slot receiver they could plug in and play. They have more pressing needs, but slot receivers can often be found in the mid/late rounds. Jakobi Myers or Hunter Renfrow could be potential day three targets.
