As Free Agency has began to slow down it is the perfect time to take a look at the team needs for each team as we get closer to the 2019 NFL Draft. Listed below are the Miami Dolphins Team Needs as they head into the 2019 NFL Draft listed in order of importance.
Miami Dolphins Team Needs
The combination of Ryan Tannehill’s injuries and inconsistencies prompted the Dolphins to move on trading him to the Titans. The surprise is the Dolphins were unable to land any of the top available quarterbacks. Heading into the draft Miami have to hope Dwayne Haskins slides to 13 or they will need to trade up to draft him.
Often underappreciated Ja’Wuan James is now with the Broncos as the Dolphins are left with a big gaping hole along the right side. If they don’t go the quarterback in the first round they were will talent available but likely they’ll be looking at a day two tackle hoping they can find someone to match what James has given them the last four years.
Year in and year out the you can pencil offensive guard as a need for the Dolphins as they have failed to do anything at the position over the past five years other than a couple of day three picks. Miami could realistically use three new starters in the interior and at some point, they need to invest in the position.
In the process of resetting the locker room culture Adam Gase and the front office got rid of Ndamukong Suh and Jordan Phillips leaving only a couple of late round picks to man the middle. Unsurprisingly the Dolphins finished 31st in run defense and will need to find reinforcements. Luckily, it’s not hard to find run stuffers in later rounds.
Former 13th overall pick DeVante Parker has been labeled as a breakout candidate for what seems like four years running and the Dolphins hope that he would has left them without with only mediocre play. With so many other needs the Dolphins need to get lucky with a diamond in the rough as they need to inject some talent into the position.
