As Free Agency has began to slow down it is the perfect time to take a look at the team needs for each team as we get closer to the 2019 NFL Draft. Listed below are the New York Giants Team Needs as they head into the 2019 NFL Draft listed in order of importance.
New York Giants Team Needs
With Eli in the twilight of his career, the Giants must address the quarterback position and identify their quarterback of the future. They have the assets to move up and secure whoever the top quarterback on their board may be. Both Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins project as solid starting quarterbacks and are capable of being ‘the guy’ in New York.
Nate Solder was solid on the left side of the offensive line for the Giants last year, but they had little stability opposite him at right tackle. The 2019 class has good depth at offensive tackle and the Giants should be able to find good value there with one of their day two picks. Kaleb McGary and Dennis Daley could be targets for them in the 2nd and 3rd rounds
The Giants need to add a dynamic edge rusher after the loss of Oliver Vernon. Luckily for the Giants this class is LOADED with edge talent and if they stay put at pick 17 a very good prospect could fall to them. With names like Josh Allen, Brian Burns, Rashan Gary, Montez Sweat and Clelin Ferrell all worth high picks, someone could fall simply due to the strength of the class.
The Giants invested in Sam Beal in the supplementary draft but adding more talent at CB is vital. If they are comfortable with Beal as the starter going into the year, they can afford to take a high upside player in the mid rounds. Kendall Sheffield would be an ideal target in that range due to his speed and versatility.
Now OBJ is no longer with the Giants a huge void has opened on the WR depth chart. Whilst Sterling Sheppard and Golden Tate are both solid options, neither are a true volume receiver. Adding another receiver to the mix should be a priority for the Giants early in this year’s draft.
