The 2019 NFL Supplemental Draft is today July 10th at 1:00 PM EST and with five players eligible we could see a couple being claimed. For a while we haven’t had a player claimed since 2015 when Clemson OT Isaiah Battle was taken in the 5th round by the then St. Louis Rams but that changed last year as both Sam Beal was taken in the 3rd round and Adonis Alexander in the 6th were taken last year. In our 2019 NFL Supplemental Draft Preview we highlight the process and then provide video evidence of what these prospects have to offer.
How Does the NFL Supplemental Draft Work?
Unlike the normal NFL Draft where teams have set time limits to make their picks teams submit claims to where they would want to take that player. The whole process takes less than an hour. If a team submits for example a third round pick and they win that claim, the team would then forfeit their third round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. If a player is not claimed they become a free agent and are free to sign with any team of their choosing.
