Oakland Raiders Team Needs
While most pundits will argue that the trading away of Khalil Mack was a short-sighted move last season, the truth is they were never looking to pay Mack the salary he deserved. With a roster going through a rebuild, and three first round picks this season, the front office will look to add a day one starter to pair with Arden Key building one of the better young pass rushing duos.
Once rumored to be in the mix for the Le’Veon Bell sweepstakes, he ultimately signed with the Jets. The Raiders currently have numerous back up running back options on their roster, which will need to change if the team seeks to make a run at the playoffs this season. Look for the team to check out Josh Jacobs from Alabama in the first round.
Last year’s leading receiver Jared Cook is currently still looking for his next team and realistically could be brought back to the team. With the additions of Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams, a bigger share of the passing game will go through them but adding a dynamic tight end that can stretch the field will continue turning around an offense that was an up and comer just a few seasons ago.
The cornerback group has taken strides the last two seasons and the team was pleased with the play of Gareon Conley and Daryl Worley. Continuing to add more pieces from a stacked draft group will give the front office the players to slow down the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Philip Rivers in the AFC West.
The team has been on the hunt for a coverage linebacker for years who can become the leader of a young defense. With a handful of average options on the roster, drafting someone like Germaine Pratt in the middle rounds would shore up the position for the next decade.
