1. Offensive Line
While Deshaun Watson was putting up big yards and points, he often had to run away from pressure. The trade of Daune Brown created a bigger opening at tackle while the interior of the line has had issues for years.
2. Outside Linebacker
When together the duo of Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus are the best as they come. This isn’t a major need, but with Mercilus being out with an injury it has exposed their lack of depth forcing Brian Cushing to the outside.
3. Wide Receiver
DeAndre Hopkins is one of the best receivers in the league while Will Fuller was dynamic with Watson was healthy. But Fuller has struggled to say on the field consistently and Braxton Miller hasn’t developed into the weapon many thought he’d be at this point.
1. Outside Linebacker
This past offseason Indianapolis brought John Simon, Barkevious Mingo and Jabaal Sheard while drafting Tarell Basham to try and fix a unit that was worse than razor thin. Simon and Mingo were nothing more than veteran additions as the Colts could really use a true pass rushing threat while Basham develops.
2. Offensive Line
Whether it’s tackle or guard the Colts have really struggled to put together a solid offensive line. Resigning G Jack Mewhort is a must this offseason but they could also stand to add another guard to play opposite of him and either allow Joe Haeg and Le’Raven Clark to battle it out or bring in a tackle prospect to add to the group.
3. Inside Linebacker
Inside linebacker was a weakness last year but the Colts really failed to do anything to improve the group besides using a 5th round pick on Anthony Walker. Walker may still develop into a quality starter, but he’s struggled to beat out a pair
Even though Blake Bortles has rebounded from a disastrous 2016 season and played good at times this year, he’s not the quarterback that is going to take the Jaguars to the next level. With an elite Super Bowl caliber defense and plenty of cap room, the Jaguars could go heavy after Kirk Cousins or even Eli Manning this offseason.
The Jaguars offensive line has played well for the most part allowing Leonard Fournette and Chris Ivory to carry the load on offense. But the line is incredibly thin and LG Patrick Omameh is a free agent but could likely be upgraded anyways.
3. Tight End
One of the few free agent signings that hasn’t worked out was Julius Thomas who they shipped off this past offseason. Jacksonville is a run heavy team that could benefit from a dual threat tight end that can help Mercedes Lewis block in the run game and then control the middle of the field providing a security blanket for whoever their quarterback is going to be.
1. Outside Linebacker
Finding themselves in the middle of the NFL statistically in sacks the Titans are neither good or bad. Aging veterans Derek Morgan and Brian Orakpo lead the way but Tennessee has gotten nothing out of former 2nd round pick Kevin Dodd and could really use a young pass rusher to eventually become a starter.
The Titans offensive line took a slight step back from last year’s dominance but is still good. Their biggest issues is they are razor thin lacking quality backups. With both starting guards impending free agents even if they are able to resign both adding some depth is a must.
3. Defensive Line
Tennessee has some good pieces along the defensive line but Jurrell Casey is the only real impact player. The group is loaded with run defenders so adding an athletic penetrator to come in on passing situations could really help.
