With Free agency wrapping up and the draft closely approaching it is time to update the team needs for every team. Buffalo has gone through quite the changes this offseason seeing Cordy Glenn and Tyrod Taylor traded away. With the Bills continuing to make transactions to move up in the draft here are the Post Free Agency Buffalo Bills Team Needs.
Buffalo Bills Team Needs
Transitioning from the big box linebackers in Rex Ryan’s system the Bills still lack the fast and athletic linebackers that have defined Sean McDermott defenses. 5th round pick Matt Milano thrived as a rookie as the weakside linebacker, but Buffalo still needs two new starters next to him.
Buffalo’s house cleaning continued seeing starting left tackle Cordy Glenn traded to the Bengals. Buffalo has to decide whether they feel comfortable with former second round pick Dion Dawkins as their new left tackle or will they use one of their two second round picks and keep Dawkins on the right side.
Speculation that the Bills didn’t want to go forward with Tyrod Taylor was confirmed as they traded their starter to Cleveland for a third round pick. Buffalo signed AJ McCarron but that won’t prevent the Bills from still moving up to the top 5 to select their next franchise quarterback.
Trading away Marcell Dareus along with Kyle Williams being 34 years old the Bills needed help inside and went back to Sean McDermott’s former team signing Star Lotulelei. Lotulelei helps the run defense but the Bills still need an athletic penetrator that they’ll have to find with one of their day two picks.
A neck injury to Alex Wood forced him into retirement and left a huge void in the middle of the Bills offensive line. With former Bengal starter Russell Bodine signed the Bills have a fall back option if they are not able to get the center they want in the draft.
Shaq Lawson hasn’t yet developed into the player most thought he’d be and is trending into being a bust. Buffalo needs help as they finished 29th in the league in sacks and even with the signing of Trent Murphy the Bills could add another bigger defensive ends that McDermott was use to in Carolina.
With Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones the Bills have two quality starters but both are big possession type receivers. What the Bills lack is a receiver with good speed that take attention away from their big receivers and help clear up the box for the run game.
