Dallas Cowboys Team Needs

After missing out on the playoffs the Cowboys are looking to get back, but were pretty quiet in free agency only adding role players Cameron Fleming and Allen Hurns. With the 2018 NFL Draft just around the corner, here is a look at the Dallas Cowboys Team Needs heading into the draft.

Dallas Cowboys Team Needs

Linebacker

Besides Jaylon Smith and the often-injured Sean Lee, the Cowboys have nothing for depth or another starter for 2018. Finding a reliable starter in the middle rounds to compete with a budget free agent signing will be a major need on the front office’s to-do list.

Defensive Tackle

Finding a defensive tackle that can disrupt the passing game and add quality depth to a thin positional group has been a need for the Cowboys for the past few seasons. Looking for a value pick in the middle rounds can help in both areas.

Offensive Line

Once the major strength of the team, the right tackle position needs to be addressed so La’el Collins can move back inside. Also looking to add depth pieces to a unit that blocks for one of the top running backs in the NFL is a solid plan for sustained success.

Cornerback

The Cowboys double dipped last year in the early rounds grabbing Chidobie Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis. But beyond those two the depth and quality pieces is absent. Look for the team to continue adding pieces in the middle rounds of the 2018 draft.

Safety

Finding competition for Xavier Woods to tandem with Byron Jones in the defensive secondary should once again be a need. It seems like the continues youth rebuild of the Cowboys secondary may finally take shape with this offseason.

Tight End

Entering his sixteenth season the iron man that is Jason Witten is nearing the end of his tenure as the tight end of the Cowboys. The team needs to look for his eventual replacement, or at the least competition for Rico Gathers in the 2018 draft.

Wide Receiver

I think the team is ready to move on from Dez Bryant, at least if it was feasible with his albatross of a contract. Finding a big bodied down filed receiver for Dak Prescott has to be a top need for a team that took a major nose dive after having to rely on the passing game after Ezekial Elliott’s injury.
