December 22nd Bowl NFL Draft Prospects Preview

UAB Blazers vs Ohio Bobcats
12:30 CST on ESPN

Ohio Prospects
TE Troy Mangen
C Jake Pruehs
MLB Quentin Poling

The simple fact that UAB has gotten to a bowl game after having the program shut down only a couple years back is remarkable on its own. That being said it’s no surprise that UAB doesn’t have any draftable players this year as most of their talent (Jordan Howard, Gerald Everett) left. That leaves only the Ohio prospects and they have a trio of late round hopefuls. The player to watch is MLB Quentin Poling who is undersized at 5’11 235 but finished 3rd in the MAC in tackles and finished with 6 sacks.

Central Michigan Chippewas vs Wyoming Cowboys
4:00 CST on ESPN

Central Michigan Prospects
TE Tyler Conklin
DE Joe Ostman
CB Amari Coleman
S Josh Cox

Wyoming Prospects
QB Josh Allen
FB Drew Van Maanen
CB Rico Gafford
CB Robert Priester

This game got a big jolt of excitement as Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen (#4 QB) has been confirmed to be playing in this game after suffering a shoulder injury. Allen is the clear top prospect in this game and someone who has the physical talent to be drafted in the top 10. With reports of Allen declaring for the draft this is likely his last college football game. Allen has struggled at various times this season, but still possesses the elite arm talent that gets the attention of NFL talent evaluators. The other prospect to watch is Central Michigan TE Tyler Conklin who is an under the radar prospect whose season got started late because of an injury. Conklin may not be an elite athlete but he has good hands and a catching radius. Conklin is likely a day three pick, but in an open tight end group he could use a big game like this to really stand out.
