With 13 former Bayou Bengal defensive backs currently in the NFL it’s clear that the LSU Tigers are DB U. Whenever you have a school that produces that many players at a specific position we always look to see who that next great player is going to be. Today we take a look at Andraez Williams or better known as Greedy. But the real questions is whether the Next Good LSU Cornerback Greedy?
Is the Next Good LSU Cornerback Greedy?
After redshirting a year Williams stepped into a starting role after a suspension to Kevin Tolliver at the left cornerbabck position and never looked back. Williams lead the SEC with six interceptions and 17 total passes defensed. Combining that production along with the physical gifts it’s no secret that Greedy Williams has been getting a ton of buzz within the NFL Draft Community.

Playing mainly press man coverage Williams used his length to get his hands on the receiver before being able to quickly flip his hips and turn to run with defenders. While in playing off man or zone based coverage Williams also showed the fluid hips to change directions and react to the defender making their cuts. At 6’2 with long arms it’s not secret that Williams is able to extend out to make plays on the ball and that was clear with his six interceptions on the season.
Williams isn’t afraid of contact and has shown in the run game to come up aggressively but tends to throw his body at the ball carrier rather than hitting and wrapping up.
There is plenty to like about Williams in the fact that he has good size, fluid movement and good ball production. The key will be for Williams to continue to work on his technique that should only enhance his athletic traits. As a redshirt sophomore Williams could very well go back for his junior year, but along with development he has the potential to be a top 10 pick.
