After being one of the more active teams in Free Agency the Jaguars were a bit tame this offseason with the sole exception being the signing of LG Andrew Norwell to big money. With the 2018 NFL Draft being right around the corner, here is a look at the Jacksonville Jaguars Team Needs heading into the draft.
Jacksonville Jaguars Team Needs
Jacksonville rewarded Blake Bortles with a three-year extension after helping the Jaguars reach the AFC Championship Game. Bortles bounced back after a disastrous 2016 but there is some concern he could revert back to form which could lead the Jaguars to using an early draft pick at quarterback.
Cam Robinson was a big addition for the Jaguars as his run blocking helped the Jaguars finish with the best rushing attack in the NFL. As good as Robison’s run blocking was he struggled in pass protection which could lead the Jaguars to target one of the top tackle prospects with the 29th pick.
While Mercedes Lewis provides the Jaguars with a good blocker he lacks the athletic ability to be a threat in the passing game. Jacksonville signed Austin Seferian-Jenkins who has potential but the Jaguars could really benefit by adding a moveable tight end that can be used as a mismatch weapon in the passing game.
The Jaguars decision not to franchise Allen Robinson all but assured that he was leaving and ended up signing with the Bears. Jacksonville was able to survive without Robinson and signed Donte Moncreif but having another big receiver who can win jump balls would really help Blake Bortles who lacks pinpoint accuracy.
Telvin Smith and Myles are elite athletes who thrive in space with speed but can struggle playing in the box within traffic. Looking to improve their 21st ranked rushing defense the Jaguars could turn to a physical downhill thumper to replace the steady Paul Posluszy who retired this offseason.
The Jaguars offensive line has played well allowing Leonard Fournette to carry the load on an offense that lead the NFL with 2,262 rushing yards. Adding former Panther Andrew Norwell solidifies the left guard position but the Jaguars could still add a young player to add depth and compete with AJ Cann at right guard.
There may not be a better cornerback tandem than Jalen Ramsey and AJ Bouye where both players are perennial All Pro’s. Jacksonville signed DJ Hayden as their nickel replacement to Aaron Colvin providing three quality corners but if the Jaguars can find another quick slot corner it could make this secondary even more deadly.
