1. Cleveland Browns (0-13)
If the Browns were going to win a game, it was this game against the Bengals. Instead Cleveland looked like the Browns we know and look to secure the first overall pick.
2. San Francisco 49ers (1-12)
Hosting the dumpster fire Jets at home it was a winnable game for the 49ers who were actually favored in the game. Losing this game was actually best case scenario as the 49ers stay within reach of the first overall pick having only one win.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-11)
With a wounded Vikings team in town the Jaguars could have gotten their stuff together and pulled out a win, but instead the right thing for the franchise is they won the game. Whoever takes over this team is going to get a some young talent and a chance a top three talent.
4. Chicago Bears (3-10)
After a pick six half way through the fourth quarter it looked like the Bears might have pulled off a monumental upset. But then the Bears stayed true to himself allowed the Lions to make the plays needed to win and the Bears keep themselves in contention for a top five pick.
5. Los Angeles Rams (4-9)
It’s only fitting that after it leaked that Jeff Fisher’s contract was extended that the Rams went out and laid a complete egg at home losing 42-14 to the Falcons. What makes matters worse is the players quit on the season. Seriously can the Rams honestly bring back Fisher and expect to win?
6. New York Jets (4-9)
There is good and bad to their game with the 49ers. The good was the news that it looks like Todd Bowles is coming back and that they actually gave Bryce Petty another start to see what he has. The bad news is they won moving them back a slot in the draft.
7. San Diego Chargers (5-8)
A season of injuries continues for the Chargers as Melvin Gordon was lost early in the game against the Panthers. Gordon had really stepped up this season with all the injuries on offense and without him the offense died. If he misses an extended time we could see this team free fall.
8. Philadelphia Eagles (5-8)
It looked like the Eagles were going to get a big inter division win but just didn’t have the defensive playmakers to close the game out. Their 3-0 start seemed like three years ago and with a brutal three game to end the season they could finish on a seven game losing streak.
9. Carolina Panthers (5-8)
Behind five turnovers the Panthers were able to roll past the Chargers and at least get them a little pride back. But with the season lost and a chance to play for a top ten pick you have to wonder if losing this game would have been better.
10.New Orleans Saints (5-8)
Any hopes of the Saints making the playoffs likely ended with their five-point loss to the Bucs. With back to back offenses duds for the Saints you have to wonder if the Saints magic is over? We keep hearing about Drew Brees’ window, but is it closed now?
11. Cincinnati Bengals (5-7-1)
For a team whose season has been over for pretty much a while has still played hard getting their second win in a row. Even with this two game winning streak their chances to make the playoffs are very thin, but with games against Pittsburgh, Houston and Baltimore they could do it or at least ruin a few others playoff hopes.
12. Arizona Cardinals (5-7-1)
With the way the Cardinals season has gone it’s only fitting that the Cardinals couldn’t beat the Dolphins who had their backup quarterback. What made matters worse is if they would have just let Damien Williams run around some more they would have gone to overtime. Oh well, at least they’ll get a top 15 pick out of it.
13. Buffalo Bills (6-7)
I’m not sure who’s stinging more this morning, the Bills after getting run all over or fantasy owners who had to go against Le’Veon Bell. This loss was bad for the Bills who thought they were a playoff team this year but are now hoping to get to .500 and rumors of Rex being fired.
14. Indianapolis Colts (6-7)
With wins over the Packers and Titans in recent weeks it looked like it was only a matter of time before the Colts took over the South lead. Instead in a huge interdivision game the Colts looked uninspired losing to the Texans. It’s not over, but with only one division game left and having the Vikings and Raiders to go it looks like the Colts will miss the playoffs for another year.
15. Tennessee Titans (7-6)
It was a huge win for the Titans knocking off a talented Broncos team to stay on pace for the South Division lead. Tennessee should trade wins the next two games before a huge showdown with the Texans in Week 17 that could decide who moves on.
16. Green Bay Packers (7-6)
The beat down the Packers gave the Seahawks has to put a scare through the rest of the league. The Packers offense has hit their stride and running like the teams we’ve known in the past. The biggest question is if they waited too long to get into the playoffs? I know nobody wants to see them get in.
17. Minnesota Vikings (7-6)
Even after their monumental midseason collapse the Vikings are still right in the playoff hunt and getting a win in Jacksonville was huge. With Chicago still on the schedule they should have one more win and but Indianapolis and Green Bay will be dog fights.
18. Baltimore Ravens (7-6)
It was a roller coaster game for the Ravens who got down early but behind two Patriots special team errors were able to get back in the game. However, it wasn’t enough and the Ravens continue to beat the bad teams and lose to the good teams. Luckily two out of their three remaining games are against bad teams.
19. Washington Redskins (7-5-1)
A late game touchdown sealed the win for the Redskins and keep them right in the thick of the wildcard race. Next week’s Monday Night Football game against the Panthers is a must win situation.
20. Miami Dolphins (8-5)
Surviving a wild game keeps the Dolphins right in the thick of the wildcard race. While their schedule sets up well playing both the Jets and Bills the next two weeks they’ll have to win out with Matt Moore as the quarterback instead of Tannehill who left the Arizona game with a nasty knee injury.
21. Houston Texans (7-6)
For as much heat they get for not being a good offense the Texans always seem to pull out a good win and keep their hold on top of the division. Add in that they have the easiest schedule remaining out of the contenders and we should see Houston in the playoffs two years in a row.
22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-5)
While Jameis Winston is going to get most of the attention, it’s their defense that won their game against the Saints holding Drew Brees to only 11 total points. But with a game in Dallas next week we’ll get to see if Tampa Bay is a pretender or a contender.
23. Atlanta Falcons (8-5)
It looked easy for the Falcons throttling the Rams for an easy win. This keeps them on top of the division but the Bucs are right there waiting to pounce. Atlanta has the advantage where their remaining games are against the 49ers, Panthers and Saints who are all winnable games.
24.Denver Broncos (8-5)
While the Broncos are currently in the playoffs their chances to make it are not very good. Finishing with the Patriots, Chiefs and Raiders looks like three straight losses and an 8-8 finish.
25. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-5)
This was quiet the unique game as the snowy mess made it hard for almost all the players, except Le’Veon Bell who just went off and ruined many fantasy team owner’s weekends. Normally the teams that are hot going into the playoffs are who you need to watch out for, and there might not be a team hotter than the Steelers.
26. Seattle Seahawks (8-4-1)
For the longest time the Seahawks were considered to be one of the best teams in the league, but losses to the Bucs and Packers within the last three weeks really make you question that. They’ll still get in the playoffs and have a great shot at a bye, but I don’t see this being a Super Bowl team.
27. New York Giants (9-4)
Can we give Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and award for the job he’s done with this defense? So much that the Giants made Dak Prescott look like a 4th round pick and held Ezekiel Elliot in check. The Giants do have a tough three game run to end the season, but if they continue to play like they have, they could easily finish the season at 12-4.
28. Oakland Raiders (10-3)
I get that the Raiders need to win out to get a first round bye and win their division, but if they are going to do anything in the playoffs they need a healthy Derek Carr. And if that means sitting him against the Chargers than that could be it as the Raiders still may be able to win.
29. Detroit Lions (9-4)
This was a standard issue Lions game as they trailed in the fourth quarter again and for the eight time this season they pulled out the win. However, Stafford injured his throwing hand in the first quarter and is going to have to play the rest of the season with an injured hand.
30. New England Patriots (11-2)
It got a little dicey in the 3rd quarter against the Ravens with some horrible special team’s blunders. But in typical Patriots fashion they were able to pull out the win and stay in position for the top overall seed in the AFC playoffs.
31. Dallas Cowboys (11-2)
I find it funny that Dak Presoctt has one bad game and there are lot of fans and media that want him benched for Tony Romo. I guess that’s what happens when you are the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Dak won’t be benched, but his leash is getting shorter and it should be interesting to see how he responds.
32. Kansas City Chiefs (10-3)
What a performance by the Chiefs on Thursday night football shutting down the red hot Raiders not only take ahold of the West Division but put themselves in place for a first round bye. The offense was always going to be what held the Chiefs back but with the emergence of Tyreek Hill it gives them some explosiveness they’ve lacked for a while.
