Week 8 Reverse NFL Power Rankings

1. Cleveland Browns (0-8)

Not even a trip to London could do anything for the Browns to get a win going. But on the bright side they stuck with DeShone Kizer allowing him to work throughout the game instead of pulling him for unrealistic expectations.

2. San Francisco 49ers (0-8)

The 49ers loss to the Eagles has been forgotten about since San Francisco traded away their original 2nd round pick to acquire Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo. What a move the 49ers who only have to give up a 2nd and still have what looks like a top 3 pick to take the best available player. Great move.

3. New York Giants (1-6)

After a terrible first half of their season the Giants get a break to hopefully get things in order to have a respectable season. But at this point wouldn’t it just be better to play their young players and go for a top draft pick?

4. Indianapolis Colts (2-6)

Indianapolis’ struggles continued losing on the road to a Bengals team that isn’t setting the world on fire. But this was expected with battered team that is just trying to survive. But at least at this rate they’re getting young guys playing time, keeping Andrew Luck healthy and likely to end up with a top 5 draft pick. So it’s not a total loss.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5)

Losing to the division rival Panthers extend the Bucs losing streak to four games and make the realization that they’re not a playoff contender all but certain. Such high hopes for the Bucs entering the year. Priority one this offseason needs to be fixing their offensive line and secondary.

6. Chicago Bears (3-5)

While Chicago wasn’t able to get their third straight win of the season they did continue their streak of playing competitive. Having to play from behind forced the Bears to throw more which lead to some of their struggles. But at this point it is all about developing Trubisky for the Bears.

7. Oakland Raiders (3-5)

Traveling from one coast to the other is never easy but the Raiders are a team that most thought would be Super Bowl contenders. Instead they lose yet another game and continue to be the most disappointing team in the NFL this year.

8. New York Jets (3-5)

Holding onto a late lead the Jets were looking like they were about to pull to .500 and be in a three way tie for the last playoff spot (as of now). Instead the Jets drop a heartbreaker. Regardless this looks like a team headed in the right direction, the key will be finding a QB to lead the ship.

9. Los Angeles Chargers (3-5)

Facing off against the Patriots defense this looked like a good game for the Chargers to pull the upset. Instead they were only able to muster up 13 points and came up just short. While most national analysts will still claim the Chargers have a shot to win the West, they’re more at home here in the top 10.

10. Arizona Cardinals (3-4)

It was a rough season before the Carson Palmer injury and now that he’s out and it’s either Drew Stanton or Blaine Gabbert and it’s hard to see the Cardinals winning any more games. The real question is if they clean house and go towards a rebuild.

11. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4)

A win over the battered Colts allowed the Bengals to keep pace and still give them hope in the wildcard race. With games against Jacksonville and Tennessee next on the schedule the Bengals have their playoff hopes in their hands as both of those teams are leading the wildcard race.

12. Denver Broncos (3-4)

Should we be surprised that the Broncos are struggling? The quarterback position isn’t great and the defense was switching schemes with a new head coach and defensive coordinator.

13. Washington Redskins (3-4)

For most the season the Redskins have played well but just haven’t been able to get wins. Against the Cowboys they really didn’t look good and got basically rolled. Washington should continue to hover around .500 which should then lead to an interesting offseason.

14. Detroit Lions (3-4)

The Lions slide continues as their loss to the Steelers continues their three game losing streak. What makes things even worse is their offense couldn’t finish any drives and instead settled for 5 field goals making Matt Prater fantasy owners happy.

15. Houston Texans (3-4)

Even though the Legion of Boom hasn’t been the same this season, putting up 38 points against the Seahawks is pretty impressive. Unfortunately, the Texans also gave up 41 and lost the game. Houston lost this game because of Deshaun Watson’s three interceptions, but they never would have been in the game without his playmaking ability. If Watson can continue to develop and limit those turnovers the sky is the limit.

16. Baltimore Ravens (4-4)

For an offense that has been sputtering they hit on all cylinders completely destroying the Dolphins. That’s even with having to play Ryan Mallett because of an injury to Flacco. Have the Ravens found something with Alex Collins, or is this just a one game abnormality?

17. Miami Dolphins (4-3)

There were plenty of people who were calling for Matt Moore believing that he’s a better option than Jay Cutler. Well after just one game those same critics are a lot quieter as the offense looked much worse.

18. Atlanta Falcons (4-3)

Mercifully the Falcons were able to halt their three game losing streak with a win over the Jets. However, they had to kick a late field to take the lead and very well could have lost. Has anything the Falcons done this year instill any faith that they’ll make the playoffs?

19. Green Bay Packers (4-3)

The bye week may not have come at a better time as the Packers can use this extra week to rebuild the offense around Brett Hundley in the absence of Aaron Rodgers. The Packers still have a shot at the playoffs, but it doesn’t look great.

20. Dallas Cowboys (4-3)

It was only fitting that Ezekiel Elliott went out and dominated the past two games since his injunction was denied and he’ll start serving his suspension. Dallas will need to lean on Dak to carry the load as they have some talent at running back but nothing really that great.

21. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3)

Even though the Jaguars were on a bye that didn’t stop them from making a splash trading a 6th round pick to the Bills to acquire DT Marcel Dareus. Dareus has his flaws but he is a tremendous run defender which fills a huge need for the Jags. This good defense only got better.

22. Tennessee Titans (4-3)

While the Titans got the win this past week with Mariota back having a week off here allows the Titans to get him even healthier for the stretch run. But the offense may be the least of their problems as their defense has been struggling lately.

23. Carolina Panthers (4-3)

Maybe Cam Newton needs to have horrible press conference moments each week as both times it has happened this year they’ve won. But in reality the Panthers beat a struggling Bucs team to snap their two game losing streak. Is this Carolina getting back on track or them just beating a bad team?

24. Los Angeles Rams (5-2)

One of the biggest stories of this first half of the season has been the Rams success. At this point it’s more than just a fluke and the turnaround that Sean McVay has done makes him the clear front runner for Coach of the Year.

25. Buffalo Bills (5-2)

Buffalo surprised many people this week when they traded away Marcel Dareus to the Jaguars clearly removing a player that didn’t fit into the team that Sean McDermott has in mind. So it wouldn’t have been a shock if the Bills lost to the Raiders, but instead win and do it convincingly. While I’ve said that Sean McVay should get coach of the year, it’s may be more deserving for McDermott to get it.

26. New Orleans Saints (5-2)

Week in and week out you have to admire the job this Saints defense has done growing into a unit that is able to not only slow some teams down but shut down their strength. Against the Bears the Saints gave up 102 yards to Jordan Howard but kept him out of the endzone. Watch out for the Saints.

27. Minnesota Vikings (6-2)

The Vikings continue to their winning ways in London easily handling the Browns to get their sixth win. Minnesota has clearly found their identity after some crushing injuries but are now firmly in control of the NFC North.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)

Since their loss to the Jaguars the Steelers have rattled off three straight wins but barely survived the Sunday Night game against the Lions who 482 yards. Luckily the Steelers were able to force field goals instead of touchdowns which is why they ended up winning.

29. Kansas City Chiefs (6-2)

After a two game skid the Chiefs were able to get back into the win column with a nice win over the division rival Broncos. The Chiefs now get to turn their attention to the Cowboys but won’t be facing off against Ezekiel Elliott.

30. Seattle Seahawks (6-2)

It was good news and bad news for the Seahawks on Sunday. The bad news was their vaunted defense gave up 509 total yards and 38 points to a rookie. The good news is their offense stepped up and scored 41 points and got the win.

31. New England Patriots (6-2)

While nobody will say the Patriots defense has been fixed, little by little they are starting to play better and are not as embarrassing as their earlier showings. But with Bill Belichick running the show, wasn’t this expected?

32. Philadelphia Eagles (7-1)

Fly Eagles Fly as they rolled over the 49ers to an easy win to stay atop not only the NFC East but have the best record in football. Before the season the Eagles looked like a playoff contender, now they’re the favorite in the entire conference.
